7 Essentials for Hawaii

7 Essentials for Hawaii

Hawaii is an absolute bucket list vacation for almost everyone I know! The right gear can make sure that your experience is actually as magical as you hope it to be! Once I have your flights, hotel, and itinerary planned, you might be wondering, what do I need to pack? Besides the obvious things you take on every trip, here are my top 7 must have items specific for your Hawaiian Vacation.

Kaiona Beach Park

Go Pro Camera- Picture or it didn’t happen right?? It’s durable, waterproof, and perfect for capturing those underwater and on dry land adventures! When it’s all said and done, you’ll have memories and photos… but only if you took them! There are newer models but the Hero 8 does the job at a great price! Pro tip: make a file on your sd card with your name and phone number so that if you lose it, when someone opens it up, they can find you! I have to believe that MOST people are good!

Quick Dry, Sand Free Towels- I can’t stress this enough, no fluffy bath towels needed! You need one that doesn’t hold onto sand and water for your beach hopping experiences! We never stayed at a beach in Hawaii all day, it is go explore and move on! You don’t want a soggy towel to drag around! This one is super cute and inexpensive!

Water Shoes- Protect your toes! So many beaches are rocky and cuts and scrapes are not going to be fun in salt water! We really loved this cheap solution because I am not going to wear these in my every day life so I didn’t want to spend a fortune but these held up well and stayed on our feet!

22 Colors here!

Reef Safe Sunscreen- Hawaii is amazing, let’s keep it that way! It’s the right thing to do and some chemicals are actually banned in Hawaii to protect the reef. We liked this kind

Rashguard /UV Sunshirt- I know… You aren’t 3 years old but these are such a lifesaver and they really do come in your size! Surfers wear them so can you! Those long days in the sun will catch up with you without your normal SPF 179 sunscreen so protect your shoulders and sanity! These were really comfy and cute! Find them here

Lots of Cute Colors Here

Snorkel- Snorkels are expensive on the island and you’ll waste your precious island time going to rent one, so just bring one! These work well when correctly placed on your face! You don’t want to be caught without a snorkel when a turtle swims by you! Go prepared! Find it here

Shaka Guide- This handy app is a GPS guided tour and gives you TONS of good info about the history and folklore of the islands, places to stop and sight see, correct parking procedures, last bathroom break for X miles warnings, and even local roadside food stands to stop by! Shaka Guide was INVALUABLE to us! The Road to Hana tour was fantastic and the Hawaiian music in the inbetween time was the perfect island vibe! Go NOW and purchase this here

There are lots of things I could add to this list as a classic over packer BUT these are the absolutely do not forget items! Check back tomorrow for my list of favorite locally owned Hawaiian Eateries!
