Resorts generally offer the very best price right when they open availability for booking. They love to see reservations on their books, it makes shareholders and hotel owners so happy!  Once rooms start filling up later on, the price generally goes up.  Surge pricing is very common in theme parks, resorts, and hotels so when a super in demand date like Christmas or Thanksgiving or the dates in general start filling up, the price is going to go up.

For example, I recently had a wedding party want to add 2 days to their stay in Mexico.  We booked the original dates several months ago for 5 nights at a total of $3500.   Now that we are much closer to the wedding date and the resort is nearly full, adding just 2 more nights is going to cost $2500.  I could have cried just a little telling them the price.

If the resort is having a hard time filling their rooms, they may offer a promotion.  Thankfully, nearly all of the resorts, cruiselines and themeparks that I work with have a best price guarantee.  That means that if there is a promotion available, we can reprice a currently booked vacation and get the deal if there is an available room or ticket to be had.

Most deposits are super low and refundable so your risk is super low!  For instance, Disney is $200 a reservation, Universal is $50 a person and both are refundable up until final payment day.  Many of the all inclusive resorts that Magical Vacation Planner works with are literally only $100 to make a reservation and save your place.
